I'm a huge multishipper and I think ship discourse is incredibly stupid, "this ship sucks" "this ship is better than this ship" I personally don't care what people do or don't ship as long as it's not something illegal. if you don't like a ship or character I like? cool like you do you but don't harass or shit on me (or anyone else for that matter of fact) just for liking them. some of you guys will get so defensive and go to such a stupid extent just to harass someone over a ship you don't like genuinely please take a step back. also making shit up about ships just to hate on them is such loser behavior, you can just say you don't like the ship there's no need to spread misinformation to try and justify your hate. we should all just be kind and respect one another's opinions. I also believe that people people can like and enjoy toxic or immoral ships (that again, isn't illegal) in fiction without actually supporting that in real life. most of the time people are well-aware of the unhealthy dynamics, toxicity, and that it'd be beyond bad irl but does that mean they actually support it irl? no it doesn't. unless they themselves say they do and/or romanticize/glorify the behavior, then it's really not a issue in my eyes.

I love and enjoy well-written, complex, deep, and nuanced characters and a lot of the time these characters are villains but liking and/or enjoying a fictional character does not equate to condoning and/or supporting their actions and behavior in real life. I think this should be common sense but apparently it’s not to some people. liking something in media and fiction doesn't automatically mean you also support and/or condone said behaviors in real life.

you guys are all "toxic yaoi this" and "toxic yuri that" but the second a ship is actually toxic you guys deem it as "problematic" like ?? I honestly find this behavior funny really, like okay mfs when enemies to lovers are actually enemies ?? you guys obviously don't want enemies to lovers you want rivals to lovers so learn the fucking difference /lh and a lot of the time these ships aren't actually even toxic and the characters just have a complicated and complex dynamic with one another but if one of them shows any slight negative emotion towards the other it immediately becomes a problem like okay. "toxic" ships have always been extremely popular in fandom spheres and honestly there's good reason for it as there are a multitude of reasons why someone would ship something. some people simply enjoy their dynamic, their raw chemistry, their tension, the subtext and the words that go unspoken, the way they banter and interact, and/or just find them interesting and enticing overall. just as an example I for one really fucking like the psychological aspect of these sorts of relationships and finding their behaviors and dynamics super interesting to read, write, and think about. the amount of raw emotions, depth, angst, and complexity placed into some these pairings singlehandedly shatter my heart and put it back together piece by piece. to think about what we had, what we didn't have, and what we could've had, the possibilities are literally endless. not to even mention AUs, like canon-divergence fix-it AUs, a modern college AU, etc like I just love seeing these characters be together in different places, different scenarios, and at different points in time. also the idea itself that people "have to" ship something "healthy" is stupid like just let people live. there's nothing wrong with shipping a cute , healthy, and wholesome ship but there's nothing wrong with shipping a complicated "toxic" ship with ups and downs as well. fandom purists who label every ship that isn't smooth-sailing, vanilla, sunshines, and rainbows as "toxic" annoy the shit out of me. please change your black-and-white thinking and learn about nuance, not everything is just one or the other. good or bad, right or wrong, moral and immoral. if you're not right, you must be wrong then. but if you're wrong that means you're bad and you're not bad, no you have the best and purest of intentions. everyone else is actually wrong, you're right, you're good, and you're better than everyone else. this sort of "morally superior holier than thou" nonsense has always been around even outside the fandom sphere but it never fails to be utterly ridiculous. some of you I feel are genuinely are incapable of seeing nuance and others will outright deny it out of ignorance to stick to their black and white beliefs. trying to make people seem morally corrupt for shipping fictional characters is such a joke.
